(0:00)Defining Fear Properly
[Music] unfilter hello everybody and welcome to another episode of PF on filtered guys how you feeling I'm good I'm great I'm ready let's do this let's go I'm ready too so so today's topic sh when I we talking we always do this like de not debrief but like a pre-brief where we kind of have conversations about the topic we're going to have today right and the questions we're going to ask you but it's and it's one
(0:42)Is Fear a Sin?
that I think to touches the core of most people actually I would argue all people and the topic for today is fear and I think the best thing for us to do is just go straight into the questions okay so question one what is fear I mean I can't off the top of my head tell you how how the dictionary would define fear but the way that I would define fear I would call it an emotion that causes us to approach a situation or a person with caution or to avoid the situation of the person entirely so fear is an emotion but it's a powerful emotion because it has the capacity to motivate or to deter us from action and I think that's why it's so profound it's one of those emotions that actually impact the choices that we make okay that's how I would define fear right now and to your definition do you think that fear is a good thing ever I think fear has its place I think
(1:44)When Fear is Actually Wisdom
and when we're talking about fear let's be clear there is a fear that is irrational right it has no basis in facts but if you saw for example a lion right in front of you like a real you know from the jungles of Africa lion in front of you you fear would be wise right because fear would help you make the decision to run you know what I'm saying yeah and that running would save your life but there is a fear of circumstances and situations that is not healthy a classic example is what we
(2:18)Lessons from the Israelites
have in the Bible where God had told um the Israelites to go spy out the land of Canaan that he had promised them now God had told them this is going to be a land flowing with milk and honey it's going to be a great land and then they go SP the land and they see all the things that God promised they would see there you know the land FL with milk and honey the grapes and the good stuff but they also see Giants and the Giants are huge I mean Giants imply huge and the fear of the Giants caused them to it deterred them from pursuing God's will for their lives and in that instance then yes fear is bad because the result of their reticence in pursuing the things of God was that they spent another 40 years wandering around in the wilderness until God killed the the unbelief that was in their heart so fear can be a problem when it is standing in opposition to Faith and in that context your fear is problematic so I want to kind of like park right here because this is very sensitive to me personally where I struggle is I was told at a young age that fear is from the enemy now what I'm here you say is fear itself and correct me from R PF is the expression of fear can be that negative the cause of fear not the expression of it so the cause of it in the sense that what are you afraid of you are afraid for example I'm a black man if you didn't notice right me and water we have an interesting relationship I like water coming out of forets coming out of showers I like water in a bowl I like water in a glass I like water in a bass tub now the bigger the bass tub the more problematic the relationship becomes usually if you can pull a plug and the water goes away I'm good now if you can't pull a plug something else kicks in so you will
(4:07)Femi's Personal Fear of Water
never never catch me swimming in the ocean if you catch me in the ocean I am on a boat with like six life vest tied to it's not going to happen talk less of swimming in the ocean and then seeing a shark I'm wanted to go hug the shark what motivates that some people will call it common sense me I call it it's fear I'm afraid of water that I can't control I'm afraid of animals that are bigger than I am and I think that's a healthy fear so I approach water with caution I approach animals with caution and the cause of my fear is my strength relative to that of the animals or my ability to swim relative to the vastness of the ocean does that make sense yes but a fear of the devil for example or a fear of success or a fear of failure or a fear of people that then becomes a little bit more not so you know black or white it becomes a little grayer if I'm afraid of a person we have to ask ourselves why am I afraid of the person right what is the basis of that fear is it that they have power over me you know there are so many different questions that we can ask as to why we are afraid and I think it is the reason that we are afraid that determines the goodness or the Badness of it the rightness or the wrongness of it okay and again this is actually making a lot of sense because when you use the word what causes fear and you give the example of your relationship with water I see that okay what causes my fear is that man I cannot predict what will happen large body of water animals in there that have sharp no you can predict very clearly what will happen you're in an ocean with a shark and the shark is I mean some Indiana Jones type you know you never know what are you yet you think the sh will bring it out of survival what you think survival I don't know what I got you well you know I'm very clear I'm not in the Jones so I do knows him I know myself I'm I'm self aware I'm 54 you know I've left that maybe I have some super power see there are things that I just don't mess with I don't mess with water I don't mess with height also you don't mess with avocados that's not fear that's revulsion that's dis yeah that thing is an Abomination tastes like Vaseline with green nasty and some people actually will spread it on toast oh my God I mean avocado is like solidified puke day old P stop stop okay well I'm going to stop I don't know I mean I mean this is we talked about like you can talk about anything right that was the premise of f yes I actually that's avocado by itself is not it because it needs help you have to add other things like you have anything have to anything that can stand by itself cannot stand alone by itself is not worthy of my palette oh wow there you go you had it here first yeah you did actually that threw me off well I guess back to fear the thing that has crippled me and I was telling show was that growing up yeah I assumed it was something I didn't have the necessary Faith required to look at what causes it because I assume that when I am afraid it is the enemy that has placed that fear in me okay now there are verses that have been used as you've not been given the spirit of fear I believe it's Paul to Timothy I'm not sure yeah and there also verses that like the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom right so for whoever the person is hands up that is trying to reconcile I want to look at the cause of the fear because I feel like once I know the cause I can reach out to God than reach out to the enemy in a sense okay I don't if that makes sense okay so I have a problem with that framing the the idea that fear
(8:02)Does Fear Always Come From the Devil?
always comes from the enemy fear doesn't always come from the enemy fear like all emotions right are the product of input and our analysis of the input so if I see a lion I think to myself Fe you are 185 that thing is500 it has big teeth it has no problems with eating human flesh you've got a problem so I analyze the information and I make a conclusion that you know that thing is stronger than I am and that thing has no he's not a respector of persons it might just whack me for lunch and then I'm afraid cuz I assess My Own Strength I assess the resources available to me and I decide that I cannot engage with that Lion in that kind of environment if it was in a zoo behind the wall different yeah no problem so the devil doesn't need to make us afraid our assessment of the situation many times causes the fear by itself now the Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom when the Bible uses the word fear we must remember that that particular word fear is not always interpreted doesn't mean the same fear as the fear of a lion it's not dread it's not forboding it's not a fear of harm the fear of the Lord that the Bible speaks of is reverence is awe you know you stand in front of something that just blows your mind you are Ed by it you rever it right and that reverence that a is what the Bible means when it says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom the awe of the Lord the reverence of the Lord the consideration of the Lord is the first step towards your decisionmaking process and hence it is the beginning of wisdom God has not given us the spirit of fear is also from the idea that God does not plant in US fear fear comes from a our assessment look there are people who swim who have swam from DOA all the way to C across the English Channel they have no fear of water the people who jump out of planes I don't know what they are smoking done that my dad was like why you actually did that SK are you kidding and he he brings it up every few months and it's like how did that feel why how did that feel I loved it it was no I'm talking about you were smoking before you before you jumped you must have been smoking something no it was just exhilarating like it was was exhilarating I see okay explanation I mean but you know that's what I'm talking about so you would go up and jump out of a moving plane which is really designed to take it from point A to point B but you decide okay let me get down here at this point at this point no not not a problem but I would never do it so the fear that
(10:46)Fear is a Consequence, Not a Spirit
I have is not from God it is from my assessment of how this is not what you do so God does not give us fear so anytime I am afraid of something I should not look to God as the source of it I should understand that this is because of my perspective on this issue so fear is always a consequence of your perspective so what my perspective makes me afraid of jumping out of a plane her perspective uses the word exhilarating to talk about that for me exhilarating is driving 150 200 mph in a sports car wow yeah that's exting would there be any concern that you could potentially crash as how how track you know you're properly harnessed in they probably hesting for a reason yes to there potential listen there's a reason goes all the way there they didn't put that why do you make cars with the capacity to go 150 200 mph so that I can drive around that 60 MPH I would say this yes please I want to hear this there is a reason why speed limits are put in place yes to protect people right exactly I'm not going to drive like that where there are people fair enough but the reason why even though you're in a confined place you're in a sports car RAC track you're harnessed in the reason why they have the honest why those vehicles are made to absorb certain amount of energy is because is a possibility it could listen when you step out of your house to take out the trash there's a possibility absolutely that a raccoon could bite you absolutely give you and absolutely absolutely so we can't live our lives constantly look we all have things so for me fast cars I find exhilarating flying I find nauseating it's perspective you know what I'm saying you know and that and that leads me back to the fundamental point so maybe I shouldn't Focus too much on the words right like the fear right I think the emotion like you're saying the emotion of fear itself the emotion itself is natural because it can be expressed in reverence to God it can be expressed in awareness of danger no no reverence to God fear is not the interpretation of the scripture they should not have used the word fear they
(12:54)The Meaning of 'Lust' vs Passion
should have used the word reverence or all right that's my perspective because at the time you have to remember that the time when the Bible was originally interpreted into English the English that was spoken at time is very different from the English we speak now right for example the word lost when you hear the word lost now what you think of is sexual desire intense inappropriate inordinate sexual desire that is the context in which we use the word lust at the time the Bible was written the word lost was used in the context of intense desire so now if we were to you know J the pose or compare what they are probably saying is Passion your passion for this or your passion for that the desires if theory is amplifying it beyond what the original or what the English of the time meant the English of the time just meant passion passion is a a level above desire you know what I'm saying so for anything or just for for anything anything you're lusting after a camera you're passionate about the camera you have a passion for that camera you want it sorry it's a passion that seeks to attain to obtain so it's not just oh I'm passionate about TV it's not I'm passionate and wanted that is the actual meaning of the word lust but in our terms in our time lust is always inordinate inappropriate sexual desire so when you and I read the Bible the lust of the flesh is a problem we're immediately thinking the inordinate inappropriate desire of the flesh to yes I'm sorry for the people that um don't understand that to have qu to yeah I guess that's the right CU in the cont yeah you can pun in your marriage yes marriage I guess this the little boy inside that has always struggled with the the fear right because I was told that it's a spirit and it's something that you should cast and bite so let me tell you how how I think it works I think that there are many things that influence our perspective so if you see it's like children children are fearless so a child will see fire and try and grab it until it feels pain from the fire the child will not stop so the pain changes the child's perspective of a fire that's experience can change your perspective but also if a parents is there saying stop it you're going to hurt yourself that also will affect the child's perspective and it may not be based on truth or fact what the devil and his agents do is try to skew our perspective try to magnify the danger of an event try to highlight the negative possibilities of a pathway that is the way that they inight fear and there's a spirit that is an expert at doing that a spirit that knows who you are knows where you're coming from knows your triggers knows the things that you are historically and maybe even genetically predisposed to you will always have the choice to heed that voice or Heed These other voices that point you in the direction of God so binding and casting
(15:58)Why Casting Fear Doesn't Work
in quotes is not really useful right we tell people that and the Bible say this true the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God so the more attention you pay to What God Says the more attention you pay to what your experience tells you about what God can do or has done the less the voice of that Spirit can control or impact your choices because really what he's doing doing is he's he's just magnifying the negative amplifying it at the end of the day fear is a question of what you choose to focus on that is really it yes there are spirits that amplify there are spirits that try and focus your attention and that is why if you think about it like this if you are under the power of a spirit a demonic Spirit why would God judge you because technically you're possessed exactly exactly so the Israelites if it was a spirit that was controlling them then the spirit is who should have been wandering around in the wilderness for 40 years the reason why they wandered around in the wild for 40 years is that they had not learned to choose God learned to choose the word of God over what their eyes could see those guys were giants the Bible calls them the sons of Anna relatives of Goliath right so they were they were pretty big guys and the Israelites you know they weren't known for I mean Saul was the tallest at the time and Saul was not anywhere close to Goliath so they were big they had cause to be concerned but they had better cause to believe yeah sorry no I was going to say like when we were talking about this before now I was telling tday that I realized that every time I was afraid of like a situation or like I'm in a place where I'm genuinely afraid I I told him that it's usually at a point where I'm like I don't know what the outcome would be that's what causes most of my fear I don't know what's going to happen and then then I told him that usually when I think about those those times a lot of times it's because it's almost like a self-realization do I actually trust God in this area of my life because if I trust God like I say that I do I would not be worried about the outcome because I know it would be good regardless of what it looks like to me in that moment it may may not feel good when you say trust God what do you mean though trust God to trust God trust God that the outcome will be good why would God allow the outcome to be adverse that's what causes my fear exactly right so your fear is not based on your trust of God your fear is based on your confidence in yourself right it's a it's your assessment of yourself relative to the circumstance that is always what causes fear right because you look at the circumstance and you look at yourself and you see your inability to qualify for God's blessing or your inability to actually address the situation yourself it's like look at Peter and the water again Peter is doing the impossible moving towards Jesus but the minute he starts to look at the water he is no longer looking at Jesus he's looking at the water relative to himself he's not looking at the water relative to Jesus he's not going water Jesus water Jesus he's me water me water and you will always lose and the reason why I jumped in there is this I feel like when we're in situations where we don't know the outcome if we have confidence in God's benevolence let me use that word in God's sure intervention our minds reset to like oh I'm good the times when our minds don't reset is if we question God's intervention and usually what causes us to question God's intervention is our qualification for the intervention will God save me he can save me so why would't he well maybe I have not been good enough and the minute you start to think am I good enough am I not good enough you're doing what Peter is doing you're no longer looking at Jesus you're looking at yourself every time we start to ask ourselves am I qualified we're literally doing what Peter is doing we're looking at ourselves relative to the sin relative to whatever it is but if you keep your eyes on the finished work of Jesus Christ all the time you will walk on water you will not the confidence I have today is not in anything else but the finished work of Jesus and if the finished work of Jesus is true if it is really finished then why would I question that God would bless me or God would intervene it's a done deal it's a certainty it should not even be a conversation think about it like this if you get all A's on your exams and all your quizzes do you ever question whether you graduate from college all A's every single exam every single quiz you don't even think about unless I like commit some crime or something yes something crazy I don't even think about it but a literally all a no b's no C's no all A's all yeah no I'm good you you don't question it because you're like man I'm qualified man exactly when they wake you up going to graduate you're like of course there's no doubt in your mind because you know you have satisfied the requirement to graduate from the University of Texas at where did you go north Texas University of North Texas King College Lagos Kings College Lagos did they have any criteria for qualification just they just graduating you whether you were or any not talk people will get offended but you get the point I'm making right and really at the root of our interaction with God at the root of our concern about our circumstances is our confidence in God's let me phrase that we have absolute confident that God can save us absolutely we know he has the power we know he has the money we know he has the resources what we always question is will he will and the basis of that questioning nine times out of 10 is am I qualified for it the problem with our walk with God is the extent to which we believe that Jesus finished it on the cross of Calvary pay liap service to it we all say it it's finished it's finished it's finished oh you know I live by Grace we say it but when the nitty gets to the greaty when the giant is standing in front of you the question is always will he so to kind of delve a little bit into that so I'm going to like share something that happened to me so when I was like studying for my boards and like I took my boards and I failed and I took my boards and I failed and I was like I've gone to school for this long like I've been pursuing this one dream for so long and then I'm here at the end and I'm like God did I get it wrong did you not send me here did I miss it somewhere was I supposed to do something else and I had to like it wasn't until I think the the very last time I took my exam before I passed I got to point where I was like God because what my fear was was that not that God couldn't let me pass it was like What if he wouldn't because that's not what he wants me to do but I had in my mind I had spent all this time investing in my education and like these are the kind of things that I struggle with now I didn't struggle with it because I was I understand perfectly what you're saying am I in the center of God's will for my life did I make a mistake should I have studied medicine instead of Dentistry should I have been a pharmacist or I just have you know gone to the Seminary and become a pastor or priest or whatever absolutely but this is the question what is the basis of God blessing you you getting it right or Jesus got it right if I love my child and I see my child about to take a path that six years down the line is going to lead to disappointment a disappointment that I think is totally unnecessary totally irrelevant to my child's group growth why would I not move Heaven and Earth to get that child's attention I would and God has been known to do stuff like that he sent donkeys to talk to people he sent hands to write on walls he sent prophets why couldn't he send you a prophet and say Seminary not Dentistry school he could have done that clearly he didn't he's said how many years to change your direction why wait until you're sitting in front of the boards to now say well you know you didn't listen to me seven years ago so now you're going to but I guess my question is what if he did what if he said you needed this many years like that is what was necessary for you to gain whatever because I mean it ended up working out but I had to even tell myself y if you don't pass and you don't eventually end up doing Dentistry you'll be okay that God will take care of you I I got to that point where I was like God will take care of you even though it doesn't look like what start right you'll be fine exactly and what will be the basis of that conclusion that you came to what will be the basis it be our next episode Faith no it was it's not Faith it's not faith faith faith about something right Faith about how much God loves you that is fin right L you so much that if he allowed me come all this way and the purpose of me coming all this way was just to get dental Dentistry School experience that's fine the boards whenever his plan that's fine that that is a feeling or that is a thought that should bring peace knowing that God loves me so much whatever the outcome of this situation is it's good for me even if it means that I die shedrach mesach and abedo yes death for us is such a horrible thing we think it is the worst thing that can happen to a person I've be as I've gotten older I still have a healthy respect so would even call it fear of death because that is coded into us we were never meant to die so God did not put in us he didn't prepare us for for death but I know that if I am no longer in this body in this physical body fantastic as it is I even if I say so myself I say so myself I will be with Christ my life continues in Christ the physical circumstances of my death are literally just the door into a relationship with God that I have always said I want into a place that I've always said I want so if the Paul Paul received prophecies telling him what would happen to him in Rome there was no confusion as to what he was going to do in Rome but he kept going he just kept going and at the end of the day we have to come to that point where we are so confident of God's love right our challenge is this we feel like God's love only manifests as comfort or comfortable things and I said this a couple of weeks ago in church Joseph was in the pit literally in the pit fearing for his life even though the Bible doesn't really go into the emotions he was feeling is interesting really the Bible actually never talks about how Joseph felt through all of his experiences we just extrapolate to Joseph he must have felt like this he must have felt like that but the B actually never talks about it the Bible never said oh Joseph was in the pit and he was afraid or the Bible says Joseph was in Piper's house and he was anxious just Joseph was in Piper's house Joseph was in pit but the Bible does say that God was with him God could easily have ended that whole episode by going to Joseph's father and say yo your boys this is what they've done to that your boy a dream a vision it couldn't have cost God a thing to get Joseph out of that pit but he left him there they sold him to the slavers he did not intervene he could have redirected the slavers let's assume he couldn't touch the hearts of the brothers he could have redirected the slavers and we know he can because the Bible says that the hearts of princes and kings are in his hands and he turns it in whatever Direction he chooses he did not choose to redirect them okay you know not a problem right they sell him to pitifer right let's assume he engineered it for them to sell him into the house of a good man but ptif is a soldier in Pharaoh's Army there's nothing good about those guys they are killers they are killing machines they have no Scruples they have no principles there were no Geneva Convention to guide how they dealt with prisoners and how they dealt they just killed killing for those guys was as natural as him with that lollipop in his mouth it was not a thing human life it's good by the way yeah my office lollipop human life was nothing to them so killing Joseph would not even have registered in his Consciousness God is with Joseph they don't kill Joseph his wife his wife says Joseph tried to rape her and honestly that is my in my opinion the only time God intervened in Joseph's favor throughout that whole journey because potifa should have killed him if I was potifa I would have killed him maybe he knew like his wife he's a very questionable person serious sometimes like possible This Woman This is this the fourth person she accused now of but you know the interesting but you know the interesting thing right it is not in pora's interest to let the other servants think absolutely it's okay to absolutely right so even if he knew his wife was lying it's not in his interest to let the other servants think his wife is lying it's not in his interest to let anybody at all doubt his ability to kill a man who dishonors his wife that is the only time God intervened in Joseph's story as far as I know that story followed a very natural progression seems like a natural progression full of hardship full of difficulty but the ultimate result and everybody thinks the ultimate result was Joseph's exaltation Joseph sitting on the right hand of pharaoh but that was not where God was going it was never about Joseph it was about making sure that when the famine came this family would have food that was what it was about I mean and to kind of I don't know if I can mean it adds because that was the path in which the Israelites were able to kind of camp in Egypt and that became a whole I feel like God's level is like next next next next level okay so I make that point to to say that sometimes it is not about us absolutely so Joseph's life was not about Joseph his promotion was incidental was critical to God's agenda God needed somebody in Egypt to open the door for Israel that is what Joseph was sent to do the only way for Joseph to do it was to become the second most powerful man in in Egypt we have to come to a point where we accept that God's agenda is a theme and he will always find a good place for us in it but it may not always be what we think it should be I I listened to a pastor once talk about and I was so upset with him but I wasn't in a position to to tell him off if I see him now I'll tell him off was it is none of our Pastors in N I trust that P if any of the pastors are talking you know nonsense I will I will I will class Pastor yes to the glory of God yes so this guy I'm at a big event like a convention you know lots of lots of folks there and this guy starts to preach a message about Moses and Aaron and how Aaron was second in command to Moses and how that is such a bad thing you know that God will not make you a number two and how we should pray this kind of that God should not make us number two that if that look at nonsense Aon his whole life wasted as number two and I sat down and I listened to that message and I was so upset because I realized that there were many people whose Destiny it would be to support a number one but rather than do it with joy they will spend itent casting and bind and trying to number one you know I have a personal philosophy personal Doctrine about John the Baptist you know John the Baptist preached a message that was very in line with the old Covenant with the Old Testament repent from your sins be converted from your sins turn to God absolutely obey the word of God that was John the Baptist message and when Jesus Christ came John the Baptist acknowledged that he was sent to prepare the way for Jesus and now Jesus has come what should John the Baptist have done follow Jesus he's here all his disciples he should have told them Jesus has come let's follow Jesus did he do that did he point people to Jesus no he continued with his ministry right preaching the wrong thing as it were but you see God had already validated John the Baptist you can't s discredit somebody you have already validated you have to take him off the battlefield that's interesting P that's interesting bti said he said now that Jesus has come the shoes have not there's one that's coming after me shoes are not even worth of feeling he said I must decrease right so so that he can increase when Jesus Christ when they locked him up he sent his disciples to go and tell Jesus that are you really the one the to come or you expect another because I shouldn't be in this place why am I here why am I here and you know what J did he did nothing he did nothing he said greater than John the Baptist man has the world has because he kind of reverence he gave John like his Kudos but you guys are going to be greater than John the Baptist right even his body language and his tone would have told you that there there's something very problematic about John the Baptist and this is my own personality disclaimer everybody please you can come for me I'm here for it but just I'm trying to say yeah he said I must decrease so that he can increase he didn't decrease he kept going and what you would then have is two people that God had put his hand on visibly preaching two different messages cousins cousins preaching two different messages we're not going to have that one of them's got to go and the time for Jesus to go was not yet so jump the Baptist had to go first Herod his wife and the daughter and the daughter perfect V that is what I think happened to John the Baptist it was simply a man who his time was up and he didn't know it I really appreciate that and I'm sure Shar those too uh I know we're trying to like I was about to wrap up I want to give you about two minutes to be able to kind of like talk about fear and I hate to say how but the steps that Believers in this modern world can can take to overcome it okay this is what I say first of all what are you afraid of what exactly are you afraid of that's number one one number two why are you afraid of that the what and the why and for me every time I ask that question what am I afraid of I'm afraid of failing why are you afraid of failing why is failure so terrible to you because failure is just not achieving a goal why is not achieving this goal such a fearful thing is it a god-given goal if it's a god-given goal then why would God let his goal will fail right per me it's your pride your ego your reputation you break it down you break it down you break it down you get to a point where you realize that you know what the problem is you you have an inappropriate estimation of yourself you have delusions of grandeur perversed yes and that helps you confront that and you can take that to God and say you know God I still have an inappropriate estimation or valuation of myself so I need you to help me with that but if you find out that you know what I'm good there then the question then becomes do I think God will not help me why would God not help me really why would God not help you is it that it is not his will and if it is not his will then why does it matter then that it doesn't help you don't we all say we want his will as long as his will lines up with what we want you know I find that really interesting that we want the will of God because we think the will of God is always the good thing right it's always the comfortable thing asked the disciples where they got into the boat and Jesus Christ said meet me on the other side right and then they ran into a storm we always think the will of God has no storms what's his name Paul he was in the center of God's will for his life yeah they beat him in fact there's one story that I don't many of us will miss there was a conflict between the Jewish Christians and the Greek Roman Christians and Paul as an apostle to the Gentiles the Gentile Christians different ethnicities decided to be an intermediary between the Gentile Christians and the Jewish Christians so he took a gift to the Jewish Christians to say these guys are your brothers they love you it was in the process of taking that gift that he started that he got beaten up and that is what started the journey to Rome cuz they were beating him while they were beating him he said hey I'm a Roman citizen I want to talk to Caesar right and that automatically set in motion he his journey to Rome he was doing God's will to hell is with good so so the point I'm trying to make is this if it is not God's will then why do I want it should I want it if it is not God's will in fact I was talking to somebody and like I don't even want God to tell me whether it is will or not I just want to do what I want and that brings us to that place where you we realize yeah that and I think many God wants us to get there a lot of the things that we say about how I love him he's the apple of my eye he's the center of my world is really not true he just what we need to say to get this man to do the stuff he want done absolutely so we say it right but at the end of the day we are driven not by his will but by what we want and he's a facilitator right I think by the time you go through those two questions what and why right you will come to the root of your fear and hopefully you come to a place where you realize that at the root of your fear is a lack of confidence in what Jesus Christ has done for you yeah are you me that feeling I mean we ask for vulnerability and and we ask for like difficult conversations as Christians and I think if what you asked for I guess let's it we appreciate this thank you I I I I I my passion I have I realized these days is is really to to to change the way that we think right about about God to a more scripturally aligned path right we're off we're very off very very off you know and what we are struggling with is not even what we think we're struggling with the fundamental problem in the church and I say this with confidence it's not a lack of prayer people think oh let's pray more it's not a lack of Holiness our righteousness is a fil anyway yes it's a lack of confidence in the finished work of Christ we we we the prayer we should be praying is Lord help my unbelief because we really don't believe we really don't that I think is the problem how confident are we that Jesus Christ really paid for all our sins awesome let's go sh do you want to kind of close this out cuz I ain't got words no more man I mean this is really good thank you FF like as you were talking I just kept like asking myself should like really your prayers should be God help me to desire your we and actually mean that not the will that I think that I want that I want you to do so I just hope that everyone's who's listened who's tuned in is asking themselves the right questions like whether it's in confronting your fear is why do you why are you afraid and what are you afraid of or just hey God do I really believe that the finished work of Christ is actually finished so thank you guys for tuning in we'll
